Kichik Chimgan is the mountain most Tashkent hikers cut their teeth on, and for good reason — it's a real climb with real views, but it's doable in a long day. The trail climbs through juniper forest before breaking onto open scree slopes, and the final ridge walk to the summit is the part people remember. On a clear day you can see the Chimgan valley, the cable car line, and the ridgeline running toward Big Chimgan. This one asks more of your legs than Rhomb's day trips, and it rewards you for it.

Harder than I expected, worth it
The scree section humbled me a little, but the guide paced the group well and nobody got left behind. Standing on the ridge at the top made the whole climb worth it.
